Is it just me, or is it getting progressively harder to stick to the lockdown rules?

It’s as if it’s harder now that the rules here in Holland have been relaxed a bit.
The situation here is okay. A few weeks ago there was maximum capacity in use in the Intensive Care units for Covid 19. Now, the Covid patients in the IC are in the minority. There are still too many. And don’t get me wrong, we’re not out of the woods yet. We have to remain vigilant. But life is starting to pick up again. Schools have started for the smaller children. More stores are open. You can have a few more people visit your home, not just your direct family.
Restaurants and bars are still closed, they will open with a restricted capacity in June. Holidays abroad are just a dream. Schools for the higher classes and the Uni’s remain closed and no mass gatherings. I guess the concert that I have tickets for will be postponed again. But if that’s the only set back I have from all this, then I’ll take it.
It could have been so very much worse.
A lot of people have lost loved ones. Many people have lost their jobs. Others are in dire straights with their business; their life’s work.
It’s hard to imagine that life could get back to normal after the pandemic. I guess it will be a new normal. Not exactly the same. Maybe people will continue to look out for others as they have done in the crisis. We’ll maintain the appreciation that we now have for many before invisible jobs and workers. We won’t take our families and friends for granted.
More people are reading again. And writing.
People have become so creative in these strange times. New games, new ways of communicating. Children have learned how to play again. Funny memes are all over the place on Internet, piercing through the often dark news.
No it will never be the same again.
It might just be better in the end.

Now all we have to do is find the patience to take it one step at a time.
To help you, here are some great books to while away the hours.

In one of the images below you see a new box set called Soul’s Day. This is a collection of all new horror stories that all have a Halloween element. And guess what? I’m currently writing a book for that set. It’s a paranormal tale, as you are used to from me. Only this time it’s heavier on the horror. Quite funny really; me writing horror. I mean I’m much too squeamish to watch horror films. Yet I can write some pretty gruesome stories and still sleep at night. I’ve been thinking about that the past few days. My idea is that in a book I can fill in the images that the words create within my own fantasy and boundaries. In a film it’s up to the producer to make the image. He or she has determined what horror looks like. I have no control. I cannot create my own safeties.
I’ll keep you informed on the progress.

Stay safe all of you.

Nothing is more deadly than secrets…

…and mine could bring this mysterious academy to its knees.

Many have forgotten my name. Magenta: the wicked witch whose dark magic created the Rebel Academy — a magic paranormal prison for supernatural bad boys. But now I’m back and eager to claim the love and life that was stolen from me, even if first I have to survive the start of term.

My enemies trapped me as a ghost on the very cursed grounds that I helped to create. Yet thanks to three deliciously tempting immortals, I’ve been awakened. One is a beautiful incubus who hungers for pleasure. The next a gorgeous shifter and mage who always senses the truth but enjoys his lies far more. Oh, and who could ever forget Loki’s hot trickster son?

Why choose between these sexy delinquents when having them all is such sinful fun?

The immortals risked everything to free me, and I’ll stop at nothing to protect them from the elitist princes who rule the reform school. Will my bond with the magical students and new friendships be enough to battle the dangerous rivalries, as well as the cruel professors’ schemes?

Or will I be forced back into the darkness

…and left to fade away?

An almost orphan will meet her father for the first time and find out she is anything but human…

Seraphina was born into a life that she didn’t belong in. Bouncing from foster home to foster home due to her mother being too ill to care for her and her father being MIA was hard, to say the least.

But when a stranger shows up at her mother’s deathbed, claiming to be her father, Seraphina’s world is rocked. Even more so when she discovers that her father doesn’t exactly call the Earth plane home. Not only was her father an immortal being, but that made her half as well, and destined for greatness.

With a father who loves her very much, adoptive parents who feel the same way, and a camp to train her how to use her powers, Seraphina will stop at nothing to save the world from the evil forces that threaten to bring it down. Will she be ready when the demons come to call?

The Covenant Challenges have begun, and I, Elyse Fisher, have been chosen to compete for a man…

There is only one nation left on Earth. One queen to rule us all. And almost no men to marry and make children with.

Why? Three generations ago, a silent pandemic ravaged the human race, modifying the Y gene and devastating the existence of the male hormone.

Only the lucky and the Elite can have male children. And that means, there are a lot of people vying to be their wives. In honor of our queen, the Elite, and those lost to the bacteria, a competition is held to find out of 50 girls from 5 districts, who the lucky chosen will be.

I am one of the 50, whether I like it or not.

For seventeen years Alexis “Lexi” Turner has been running. From foster homes, creeps on the street and the law.
Lexi is a survivor, she has spent her whole life moving from one abusive foster home to the next, until she decided to take charge of her own life. Living in abandoned buildings, couch surfing and working at a strip clubs are huge improvement on what she had before.

She has a plan.
That is until she is caught and sent to live with a strange foster family up-state, —her new high school isn’t much better.
Rafferty King was forced like Lexi to this new foster home, but he fits in better. And that’s saying something for a total misfit. Hot as hell and getting into fights, while ignoring her existence. Whatever.
Then there are the twins Ranger and Maverick, also known as “The joker and The Loner.” They know who she is and give her the new girl treatment she is all too familiar with.

I hope that you will stick around, but if you want to unsubscribe just click on the unsubscribe at the bottom of this mail.

I send out a newsletter twice a month, on the 1st and 15th. The newsletters are filled with updates of my books, some great recommendations for books that I loved, and lots of free or discounted books. I also often add competitions.
My regular genre is Urban Fantasy, though I have combined this with Romance–reverse harem actually–in my new series: The Prophecy. Assassin’s Choice is the first book in that series. The Primal Series also features some Romance, but they are more Urban Fantasy than actual Romance books. All are 18+ due to the content (steamy and violent sometimes)

Thanks again for reading my newsletter, stay safe.
Happy reading.
