Title of the sequel to “The Beast Inside” revealed!

One of the most difficult things about writing a book is the title.
As a writer I have to put the whole book, all those pages and story lines, into one short sentence. Not only that, it also has to be inviting, full of suspense and mysterious. Preferably in less than five words.
If a title is too long it will be difficult to find and hard to remember. Ideally it should be one or two words, but that’s really pushing it for me. Add to all these requirements the ones I impose on myself and you have the recipe for sleepless nights.
When I wrote Primal Nature, I had no idea that the one book would evolve into a series. The title Primal Nature referred in everything to the main character and the red-line that runs through the story. For the sequel it seemed fun to start that title with the last word of the previous one, especially as it was relevant to the story. So Primal Nature became Nature of the Beast. This worked with the story so I started that “tradition.” The Beast inside followed the trend and then I was stuck. How to create a title that started with “Inside”.
Major head ache!
It has to describe the story, what happens in the book, I was stumped.
Ok, so we had a few options:
Inside the curse… nope, too witchy.
Inside the apocalypse… nahhh, too dystopian.
Inside insanity… just didn’t sound right.
I even scoured the dictionary for words that would relate to the tale and started with “in”. No luck there.

And then, late at night (isn’t it always) it came to me.

INTO THE LION’S DEN

It says it all. The link with our lead character Anadi. The mess she gets herself in in this sequel and much, much more. Ok, It doesn’t start with “Inside”. Sorry, another tradition down the drain, but that was the concession.
So, what do you think? Would you read a book in the Primal series called “The Lion’s den?” Does it conjure up images in your head? If so, I’d love to hear what.

I can promise you this: there’s a lot of action, some soul searching–and yes–adult content in the sequel. I’ll be sharing the first chapters and some goodies about the story in the coming newsletters.
Now that I have the title I can finally start the cover process. That’s sooooo much fun. You can expect a reveal soon.

Thanks to every one who sent me the great tips on how to prevent myself from melting in the uncommon hot weather we had here in Europe after all my moaning in my last newsletter.
Much appreciated 🙂
Primal Nature made Amazon Bestseller in four different categories in June.
I can’t get enough of this, so here it is again. Be sure to get your copy if you haven’t read it yet.

Books, books and more books.
Here’s some great reads for this summer

BLOOD ROSE

DANIELLE ROSE
NOW FREE!
There’s no wrath like that of a witch scorned.

Avah Taylor has been given a death sentence: as one of the only spirit users in her coven, Avah has been chosen to wield The Power, the ultimate weapon against the immortal vampire species witches have been at war with for centuries. The Power, given by the gods to one witch of each generation, is considered a great honor, but every witch before has died trying to master this all-too-powerful gift, one that the shell of a mortal can’t contain for long.

On the night of her birth rite, Avah’s coven is attacked, and Avah is left for dead. Confronted with a terrible choice, Avah must decide to either die or save herself by becoming like her enemies. Forced to seek refuge among the very beings she has sworn to kill, Avah vows revenge on those who took her former life from her.

As Avah slowly transitions into a life of blood and war and battles her own feelings for a man she is supposed to hate, she realizes everything she’s been told is a lie.

SPELLS & DEATH

R. MEDHURST
Part witch, part ghost, total book nerd.

I’m a dead witch. Sort of. As a pure Essex witch, I’m permanently attached to Mother Earth’s ley lines. Pure magic equals life force. Which is the only thing that’s stopping my body from dying and my soul from moving on.

A Paranormal MI5 agent, my life work is to protect the ley lines. The magic contained within them is sacred, pure. When a serial killer starts leaving clues for me, I quickly realise that not only does he know my secret, he’s trying to steal the magic out from under me.

As each new body is found, I feel the lessening of magic that keeps me alive. I have no choice but to tell the one person I trust. Dave, the cute admin guy. Although he sits behind a desk, his geeky mind could solve anything. Together, we have to find the serial killer, before he drains the Earth of magic, and kills every living thing on it.

ALIX
VIRGINIA HUNTER
Alix hadn’t always been gifted. In fact, she hadn’t been or done much of anything until after she’d turned sixteen—that’s when things had really gone to shit. Her mother was murdered, her father…well, no one knew where he was. That left Alix on her own in a selfish world filled with people who didn’t give a damn.

Nine years of hell had passed since her sweet sixteen and the discovery of her gift. So far, she’d managed to handle everything the world had thrown at her. Everything until Troy Sullivan strolled into the tattoo parlor where she worked.

She had known men before, sure, but none of them could hold a candle to the man that walked up to the counter looking to get some art done. As fate would have it, Alix finds herself on the run with the would-be man of her dreams while a band of fanatics, hell bent on finding her, give chase.
